Originally, we put our house on the market in February because my husband took a job in Denver. We decided to go with a realtor who told us we could get $784,000 for our house--$40,000 over what we had paid. I had reservations at the time, but I assumed they knew what they were doing. We were wrong and it was an expensive mistake. By not having the right price on there in the first place, they did us a huge disservice. If we had a more realistic price to start with we could have sold it sooner. Meanwhile, the housing market was going down.
In August, we got a packet of info from Kevin saying your house has been on the market for awhile. It told us what he could do to facilitate the sale. In about 4 weeks, he had it sold!
We took a beating on the price because of the sub-prime melt-down but we really appreciated Kevin’s candor in not selling us a bill of goods....instead he told us what we could realistically expect.
I can wholeheartedly say, I wished we would have listed with Kevin in the first place.
If I could do it over again, I wouldn’t have stayed with the other agent as long, we would have dropped the price faster and been more aggressive about selling earlier.
Initially, we liked what Kevin had to say but we were still pretty gun-shy after what we had gone through. So, my husband peppered him with questions and we were satisfied with his answers.
Kevin was very good about calling and emailing us to keep us informed. He stayed in touch just about every other day.
Kevin did a lot to market our home. He had the brokers caravan out and even had the event catered by a popular Italian restaurant.—he paid for that out of his pocket.
He had much more gumption than the other realtor. He paid to have a landscaper come out and do stuff to keep it up I wouldn’t put it past Kevin to clean the windows himself...I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
We really appreciated the level of service Kevin provided for us and I’m firmly convinced he knows his business and is one of the more honest and reputable realtors out there.
